Stillness (Quieted My Soul)

Stillness is the rename for what was origianlly entitled Quieted My Soul, from the passage of scripture in Psalm 131:2 -
But I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with its mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me.
That scripture rolled off the tongue almost poetically. Well, it is poetic, isn't it? What a peaceful and assuring verse, to say that, as a child of God, my soul is stilled and quiet and like a child. I get a beautiful picture in my mind when I read it.
This, like almost everything I do, was recorded at our home studio, The Junk Room, done very simply through a couple of Shure dynamic mics with a little condensor mic modelling...a 57 hanging over my shoulder and a 58 at the 15th fret. Straight into the MR8 HD/CD. A little reverb and some creative compression on the mix.
Gordon (aka DJ Free) is a master at taking what might be considered "decent" tracks and polishing them til they glisten in the mastering phase. That was the case with this song, and he took my individual four guitar tracks, synced them up (much better than they were), added some tasy delay, pads and ambient sound to the mix...
The result, to me, was astounding. I love it.
