Ricky Fitzpatrick: Music
Fugue No. 1 in A minor
This is a piece I composed a while back and I've been holding for a very long time. I always enjoyed it, but never had a viable use for it. Today, we have a number of possible avenues for this song, but we'll let those unfold as time goes on.
Some people have said this reminds them of Rimsky-Korsakov's "Flight of the Bumblebee". Flattering. Humbling. But I hesitate to put it in that league. But you can judge. It will be what it will be for each of us. Hopefully though, that nod will give you a heads-up as to what it generally drives at.
The feel or groove of the song is one of melancholy anticipation...at least in my mind. I won't say any more about that. Because I think it's more important for you for fill in the blanks and let it speak to you, however you may need it to. But
I do pray, however, that God will use this to do something unique for you. Something that only this song may have the quirky ability to do. I believe He has a purpose for it, and that's one reason why I'm not keeping it to myself any longer.
As for performing the piece, many of you know, I just hunt and peck on the piano. I wish this was me, actually playing, but it isn't. Not even close. It is, however, me programming the notes, via a MIDI controller.
I don't own a MIDI keyboard, so every note is programmed, individually. Every single note, it's value, volume, effects and any other properties, is input by me, in well, a very non-musical fashion. There are thousands of notes in this piece. It's a painstaking process that took me, oh, several weeks to complete on this song. But I like it. :)
I hope you do too!
No lyrics. A classical instrumental composition for piano in four hands.
