From the recording Mississippi Moonshine (reshine)

UPDATE September 2014
We've been working on more of the new MM. You might think I've been recording, but I haven't actually recorded anything in the last week or so. I've mixed and remixed and remixed what I have, about 47,000 times. I think I'm obsessing...just a little. :)
Don't want to get the Axl Rose syndrome on this (and meanwhile, ten years later...)!
Still, I think it's worth the extra attention. I'm very happy with the mix now, for this point in the recording. Posting it here. Now we can build on a solid foundation for the rest of the tracks.
Got a text from David Wilkins the other night. He is going to take a crack at laying down the bass for us. Very excited. DW is the bassman on "Highway 98", which I think may be the best bass track I've heard. Ever. So I have great hopes for what spells he may weave for us!
Also working on piano tracks the rest of this week. We'll be investigating the use of some MS musicians for that and other instrumentation. Shouldn't be much of a stretch because frankly MS is FULL of great artists. Once that's done, we'll be very close. Stay tuned and keep listening for our updates and the coming final version!
Also stay tuned for new developments and updates regarding our Legislative goals for Mississippi Moonshine...

Working on a "re-shine" recording of "Mississippi Moonshine", giving it the slow and steady treatment. And I wanted to post it here, as it evolves.
With all humility, this has always been one of my favorite Country songs to have in my pocket, one that I'm really grateful to have written. It's simple, easy to play, feels at home, at my wife and kids dig it. :) So what else could there be?!
This re-shine is more of the way I always intended MM to sound. A little drums. Some closer attention to detail and pitch. Tightening up my harmonies a little. And mapping out the bass and piano parts. I'm not going to rush it...just let it breathe.
Keep in mind, the recording posted here, will be evolving as we go. Right now, this is a draft of the first mix, and without a bass and piano line. But I think it's coming along nicely, and I wanted to go ahead and let everyone be involved in the process of evaluating it, as we go.
So please give it a spin. Enjoy, share, comment, let me know what you like. What you don't. My wish is that this will evolve into the song that I believe it's always wanted to be. And I hope it might continue to be a song that folks will sing and play and use as the soundtrack for those romantic, Southern Summer evenings. Something that evokes a hark-back to a time of strong character, a slower pace, G-Rated courting and a backdrop that doesn't have a skyscraper or blanket of smog, disturbing the view.
Grab a blanket, hug up close, and sing along. ;) Thank you!!!
