Jesus Loves Me is a song that has been sung for over 150 years and recorded by countless, countless artists. I've even previously recorded it myself, before this. It is the iconic song of Christianity...for adult and children, the same.
I could not imagine being more comfortable behind the piano or the microphone than I was, recording this. Even moreso than when I sing my own songs. Jesus Loves Me is so timeless, and so easy to sing and express yourself through. And even though my piano playing is quite elementary (in comparison to some), I still felt able to sing and worship and hopefully try to capture all the depth of emotion that this song brings up, inside us. It's such a vehicle for praise.
When I started working on the idea for the new Keys of Grace CD, this was the very first song I had in mind. It was a given, that it must be a part of the tracklisting. Aside from the simple beauty of it, musically, the message of JLM is the essence of the simplest presentation of the truest declaration. "Jesus loves me!"
I hope you enjoy this and can use it during your own individual time of worship or reflection. And I pray for the peace of the Lord and His Grace and Love be found in you when you sing it. Jesus loves you!
