From the recording The King Has Come (demo)

It almost seems “wrong” to be working on Christmas music in the Springtime. :) But you know, all those Christmas songs that will hit the radio and stores this Holiday Season…they’re being complied, recorded and prepared, right now. June is like “Christmas Music preparatory month”, in the music industry.
Anyway, that’s not why I started working on this new song. The King Has Come is something that I’ve been rolling around in my head for several weeks now. And frankly, I just wanted to get it recorded. Who cares if it’s June?!
Ultimately, this will have my kids (or a group of kids) singing this, instead of me. But for now, I’ll have to make-do. And I’m hoping we’ll be able to incorporate this and a few other songs into this year’s Christmas program for the kids at Corner-Stone Church. We’ll have to see how that comes together…
The premise for this is obviously, Israel is singing about the coming of the Messiah, “the King”. At the time of Jesus’ birth, all Jews knew that it was time. They knew what was about to happen. And the anticipation of the coming of the Messiah gives way to generations of expected freedom and restoration. It’s a beautiful picture…even though Israel may have missed the finer point of Jesus and how he would appear.
I hope you like this. I tell you, I happen to really dig it. The whole 80’s feel…the fretless bass…the synth pads…easy groove. I feel like I’m back in high school. (LOL) I do hope the message of the song translates to you… “the King has come”. Indeed He has. And that's something, that even today, we ought to celebrate...any time of the year.
