I love recording Christmas songs...either during the Holidays or not. It doesn't really matter to me.
This will be the first single from the new Holiday CD for this year, "Acoustically Christmas". So I hope everyone enjoys it and will want to share it with all their loved ones this Holiday season.
As usual, this is me on the acoustic guitar. Lots of layers. Probably about 4 guitar tracks in all. The "choir" in the background is me too, in case you're wondering. (Yes, some of those high notes were at the VERY tip-top end of my range!) But it came out very nicely...I'm happy.
"What Child Is This" has always been one of my favorite Holiday songs. It's so melodic and reverent. And the message within the song is absolutely timeless...which probably explains its ability to endure for so many years. My favorite verse is the last one...it feels like the gloves are off and all the excuses are gone. The Christmas story is about to make itself alive, and the joy of that is just sparkling out of those lyrics. At least, it feels that way to me. :)
My prayer is that God will annoint your listening of this rendition of a clearly inspired piece of music. I would say, He blessed us once, with the gift of this song, generations ago...and now I pray He blesses us again, with this new arrangement.
