From the recording Mississippi Moonshine

This was the first. The first song I ever seriously wrote. The first song I ever took to a real studio. My first single. My first #1. My first of a lot of things.
And it remains THE most popular and most requested song, still, out of all the songs I've written.
My kids like it too...a mystery to me. :) But they do. And if I'm honest, so do I.
It's just a smooth groove, to me. I've never been to Mississippi, but this song almost makes me want to go...

Verse One
Heading out tonight, round about sundown
To a special place for you and me
Just outside of town.
Spreading out a blanket,
Down beside the creek;
Sitting in each other’s arms
And lying underneath…

Chorus
The Mississippi Moonshine…
Midnite lovin’, all-night huggin,
Heaven on earth tonight.
A Southern Summer get-right…
Hold me baby, Mississippi lady,
Everything’ll be alright…
Mmm, right about time, the Mississippi moon shines.

Verse Two
The stars are waking up, while the crickets sing a song.
We ain’t got no worries as they sing along.
Lightning bugs are playing, and putting on a show.
There ain’t no place I’d rather be
Than hanging out below…

Chorus
The Mississippi Moonshine…
Midnite lovin’, all-night huggin,
Heaven on earth tonight.
A Southern Summer get-right…
Hold me baby, Mississippi lady,
Everything’ll be alright…
Mmm, right about time,
Oh, right about time,
Oh, right about time…
The Mississippi moon shines.
